PowerSteps Upgrade for 2011 Jeep Wrangler Adds Convenient Access

A repeat client came to Westminster Speed & Sound looking to have some more upgrades done to his 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. We had previously installed a Compustar 2WR3-SS remote start system. It comes with a pair of compact remote controls with incredible range that confirm back once the vehicle has started. That way, the client knows for sure that the Wrangler will be nice and toasty when he goes out to it.

This time around, he wanted a set of Amp Research PowerSteps. These are unique in that they go from being almost invisible to dropping down 6″, giving the passengers an easy way to enter and exit the Jeep. As you can see in the pictures, when the steps are retracted, it looks like a small set of rock guards has been installed. As soon as you open one of the doors, the steps extend down and the hidden LED lighting illuminates the steps and the ground below. This makes for a safe and secure way to enter and exit the truck. Once the last door is closed, the steps will retract back into place after 2 to 3 seconds.
If you know Wranglers, then you know people like to remove the doors in the summertime. Since the door pin switches are what activate the steps, if you take the doors off, the steps would want to be extended constantly. Our team installed a circuit with a conveniently mounted switch that allows the client to use the steps even with the doors removed. If the switch is in the up position, the steps stay retracted; if the switch is moved to the down position, the steps will extend. Now the client can enjoy the freedom of no doors while still using the Power Steps.
If you would like a set of Power-Steps for your truck or SUV, simply stop by Westminster Speed & Sound in Westminster, Maryland, or click HERE. Let us show you why we are the most-awarded vehicle technology facility in the Mid-Atlantic.
