Reisterstown Client Adds 2023 Porsche 911 Carrera T Radar Solution

A client from Reisterstown recently contacted the Westminster Speed and Sound team to inquire about installing a radar detector in his 2023 Porsche 911 Carrera T. The car can reach 60 miles per hour in just over four seconds, so it doesn’t take long to break the speed limit. After inspecting the vehicle, we explained the Uniden options we offered and provided a quote. The client loved our plan and gave us the go-ahead to schedule the installation.

Uniden R9W-P Radar Detector

These days, a high-quality radar detector solution notifies the driver of both police radar and lidar. The latter uses light pulses reflected off the front of the vehicle to determine speed. These systems work quickly and are accurate. The Uniden R9W-P radar detector we installed gives the client a few seconds’ warning, allowing him to check his speed and slow down if necessary.

We installed three laser transponders on the front of the 911 in locations that provide optimal exposure to incoming lidar signals. Our fabrication team 3D-printed housings for the transponders and used infrared-transparent covers to give them a clean and classy appearance.

We removed the front bumper cover to allow proper wire routing.

The laser transponders can be disconnceted if the front bumper needs to be removed.

The transponders are aimed parallel to the ground for maximum sensitivity.

Classic Police Radar Detection

Some police officers still use classic radar guns that use radio frequency to measure vehicle speed. The Uniden system includes a dual-antenna radar module, which we mounted to the front bumper with a custom bracket.

Custom Radar Detector Installation

As always, the antenna and transponder wiring are routed along the same path as the factory harnesses to keep everything safe and secure. We mounted the controller hub and display on a custom insert that fits into the rear portion of the center console. There’s a speaker hidden under the dash that provides audible warnings when a threat is detected.

Once the installation was complete, we took the car for a short drive and tested the system using our radar and lidar guns. We test every system we install to ensure it works flawlessly for our clients.
