A client from Ellicott City, Maryland, came to WSS Westminster Speed & Sound with his 2015 Toyota Tacoma, looking for a navigation system. Our team spent time on looking over the vehicle with the client and listening as he explained the features that were important to him. He mentioned that he wanted SiriusXM Radio, GPS turn-by-turn navigation, Real Time Traffic Re-Routing, and Bluetooth for hands-free calling and music streaming. Once we realized that he owned an iPhone, we suggested the Pioneer AVIC-6100NEX unit, primarily because it features Apple’s CarPlay software natively. He liked our ideas, so we scheduled an appointment for him.
Upon completion of the installation, we were able to retain his factory steering wheel controls and factory USB port in the lower dash. Now, when he plugs his iPhone into the USB port, it automatically launches the CarPlay software on his new Pioneer 6100NEX unit. He can safely harness the power of Siri voice control for text messaging, phone calls, his music library and reminders while the vehicle is in motion.
When the client came to pick up his vehicle, he was completely thrilled with the final product and the fit and finish of the installation.
