Escort Radar for New Windsor Ford F-150 Tremor

A client from New Windsor recently contacted the Westminster Speed and Sound team to ask about a radar detector solution for his 2022 Ford F-150 Tremor. We met with the client to discuss where and how he drove the truck so we could determine the best speeding ticket prevention solution. Based on his answers to our questions, we suggested that a custom-installed Escort MAX Ci 360 would be the best solution. He agreed, so we scheduled an appointment to begin the integration process.

Custom-Installed Radar Detector

We started the project by mounting the OLED display from the Escort radar detector on a custom bracket at the top of the windshield. This mounting location makes the display easy to see when warnings are provided but keeps it out of the way while the owner is driving. Next, we installed the control panel to the right of the steering wheel. The client needs to be able to access the controller quickly and intuitively to disable the laser defense system.

We proceeded to mount the controller for the system up under the dash and route the wiring safely away from moving parts and sources of electrical noise.

Laser Defense Features Add Confidence

All four ShifterMax laser radar transceivers were mounted on the front of the vehicle to provide the best protection possible against lidar.

Two of the sensors were mounted in the air intake in the center of the front bumper.

We mounted one of the laser radar transceivers in the front grille on the passenger side.

The last transceiver was mounted on the driver side in the grille in the same spot as the passenger side.

The Max Ci 360 includes four ShifterMax laser radar transceivers. Because the truck has an extensive front profile, we mounted all four sensors on the front to provide the best protection possible against lidar. One pair of sensors was mounted in the front grille, and the second set in the air intake in the center of the front bumper. Our technicians always use a level to ensure that each sensor is aimed perfectly for the longest range and the most reliability possible.

Twin Radar Receivers Offer Long Range Performance

Our technicians mounted the front radar receiver just behind the front grille and secured it to the radiator support.

The rear radar receiver was mounted below the rear bumper on the trailer hitch bracket.

The last step was to install the radar receivers. We mounted the front receiver behind the front grille and secured it to the radiator support. Radar signals can pass through the plastic bumper with almost no loss of sensitivity. The rear receiver is mounted to the trailer hitch bracket. Once again, we routed all the wiring safely and securely back to the controller in the dash.

Testing Ensures Proper Functionality

With the system installed, we set up our police radar and lidar guns and performed several functional tests to ensure that everything was operating to specification. When the owner returned to Westminster Speed and Sound to pick up the vehicle, we explained how to use the system and the proper Jam to Kill procedure to help prevent speeding tickets.
