A client from Manchester came to Westminster Speed and Sound with his 2010 Ford F-450, looking to dramatically improve his lighting. One of our team went out to the truck and looked it over with him. After exploring several ideas, we worked up a proposal that he liked, so we set a time to work on his Super Duty.
For this project, we had two goals: Improve the low-beam performance for when other drivers were around and improve high-beam performance. We chose a set of Rigid custom-fit fog lights that install in the factory spot in the front bumper. Our team set them up to come on in the same fashion as the factory fog lights, so no extra switches were needed. Now, when using the low-beam headlights, the driver gets much more illumination of the road around him without being blinded by oncoming traffic.
To improve the vehicle’s high-beam performance when he is alone on the road, we installed a 20″ Rigid SR Series street-legal driving light. If he leaves the switch turned on, they illuminate whenever the high-beam lights are activated. The driver now gets a 100% improvement in light being displayed on the road, resulting in dramatically safer nighttime driving.
Of course, we soldered all our connections, applied protective heat shrink, and made sure all wiring was neatly loomed and secured in place.
