A client from Pikesville dropped into Westminster Speed and Sound to inquire about window tint and clear bra for his 2017 Porsche 911 C4S. He wanted to protect the paint from stone chips and scratches, and keep the interior of the vehicle cooler with a heat-rejecting window tint. We inspected the vehicle and put together a quote that would deliver the comfort and protection he wanted for this gorgeous Graphite Blue sports car.
Porsche 911 C4S Clear Bra Installation
Our project started by cleaning and degreasing the paint on his C4S. The client wanted above-average protection, so we planned on covering the entire front bumper cover, the hood and the front fenders. We loaded a roll of 3M Scotchgard Pro Series 4.0 paint protection film into our computer-controlled cutter and let it get to work, scribing perfect outlines for each panel of the vehicle.
Once the film was cut, we applied a slip agent and positioned each piece on the vehicle. When it was perfectly aligned, we used a tacking agent to activate the adhesive for proper adhesion and long-term reliability. As always, it’s the small details that make a project special. We removed the Porsche emblem from the hood so we could work the film into the recess for an as-seamless-as-possible look.
3M Crystalline Window Tint
The client wanted a window tint that not only looked good but would help keep the interior of the vehicle cool. We showed the client how 3M Crystalline tint blocks 97% of the sun’s infrared energy. Crystalline is manufactured using 3M’s proprietary optical film nanotechnology, blending more than 200 layers to create a film that’s thinner than a Post-It Note. It provides amazing optical clarity, superb UV rejection and reference-level IR rejection.
Just as with the clear bra, we cut the tint film using our computer plotter. While some shops may claim that cutting film on the vehicle is faster, the risk of damage to the glass or trim pieces isn’t worth the risk. Frankly, your car isn’t a cutting board and doesn’t deserve to be treated that way.

With the Scotchgard clear bra and Crystalline window tint applied to the 911, the client returned to Westminster Speed and Sound to pick up the vehicle. We gave him a tour of the work we had performed and explained how to care for both films over the next few days as the adhesives set up and in the future. The client was thrilled with the work we had done!
