A client from Baltimore, Maryland came to WSS Westminster Speed & Sound looking for a backup camera for his 2014 Nissan Xterra. One of our team went out to his vehicle and looked it over with him. After listening to how the client used the vehicle, we suggested doing a rearview mirror based backup camera system.
We installed a replacement rearview mirror with an embedded 3.5″ LCD monitor that turns on and illuminates whenever the vehicle is put into reverse. When not in reverse, the mirror looks completely stock. When it came time to install the camera, we used one of our models that mounts at the top of the license plate, centered on the vehicle. The camera is a low light design so it can focus and deliver a great picture even at night. We like how the camera is centered on the vehicle, yet looks almost unnoticed to the naked eye.
When the client came to pick up his vehicle, he loved how the system looked like a factory installed product. Now, he can safely back up his Xterra, whether day or night.
