A client from Hampstead, Maryland recently came by with his beautiful 2011 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail Classic. It had a custom fairing installed that had two sets of speakers in it along with a CD player. The Harley stereo was leaving the client wanting more. He was not happy with the sound quality or the output capability of the system. He had an amplifier installed into the bike trying to improve the system and had less than positive results. The previous install was done poorly and the equipment chosen could not deliver the sound he was looking for. We sat down with him and went over his goals for the system. He was pretty straightforward in what he wanted: better sound quality and output that would allow him to hear his music clearly while riding.
WSS + Arc Audio + JL Audio = Happy Harley Client
We agreed on the upgrade path for the harley and set up a time to install the stereo system. We removed the two sets of speakers in the fairing and installed two sets of JL Audio C2-525X speakers. These speakers can handle the weather presented by a Harley and produce a clarity way beyond what he was experiencing. We also installed an Arc Audio KS125.2BX mini amplifier. This amplifier is unique in several areas. It is extremely compact so it can fit in the tight confines of a motorcycle. It is very efficient so it will work with the stator output capability of a Harley. They also are bulletproof. We have never had a defect with this amplifier which attests to its build quality. The amp also has an incredible circuit called BX2. The simplest way to describe this technology is it will take the low bass frequencies that a smaller speaker can’t reproduce and it moves them slightly higher up in frequency to a spot the speaker can handle. It adds a richness and depth to the music that has to be experienced. Motorcycle stereo systems can now reproduce the bottom octaves of music that were once reserved for automobiles that had subwoofers.
Needless to say the client was thrilled with the result. His sound quality skyrocketed and he had much more output than the previous system. He now had one more thing to be smiling about when he was riding his beautiful Harley Softail. We considered this Harley stereo upgrade “Mission Possible”!
