Grown up car with grown up toys

January 1, 2009 By staff

This project started with a 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue. First we got rid of those ugly 16″ wheels and tires and replaced them with a beautiful set of 18″ TSW wheels and 235/40zr18 Sumitomo tires. That helped. But now the stereo needed some serious help. So what started out as an upgrade sort of got carried away. We started by replacing the factory cassette deck with an Alpine IVA-C800 am/fm cd player w/6.5″ monitor. We installed an Alpine DVA-5205 dvd player underneath it. Then we said to ourselves, we need surround sound, so we installed an Alpine Dolby Digital surround processor and center channel speaker. We replaced the front speakers with Focal 6 ½” separates to sweeten the sound, but we needed bass. So we added an Alumapro Alchemy 10″ subwoofer to give us some low end. We then added a set of Blaupunkt overdrive 6×9’s for rear fill. The whole system gets driven by an Alpine 5 channel amp that puts out 800 watts of power!

But that was not enough. We added an Alpine dvd navigation system so we would never get lost, and felt we needed a vcr and tv tuner to keep us more content on those long trips. If we were going on long trips we would certainly take the kids, so we added a playstation interface so the kids could enjoy their video games and we installed 2 rear seat monitors inside the headrests so they would be REALLY content. We then added 3 wireless headphones so the kids could watch pokemon in quiet while we jammed up front to our favorite tunes. Did I mention I thought we would need a 6 disc cd changer? Got one. Now where do we put all this stuff in the trunk.? No problem. We custom installed everything and made it look like nothing was there, til you hit a button on your remote and the amp motorizes out towards you. Feel free to come see and experience this vehicle firsthand, you won’t be disappointed!
