A client from Reisterstown, Maryland came to WSS Westminster Speed & Sound with his 2012 Toyota Rav4. He had a few specific requests:
- He wanted HID fog lights
- He wanted a touchscreen radio like the new 2013 Rav4’s have
- He wanted the sound quality of the stereo system to be noticeably better
We went out to his vehicle and scoped it out with him. We realized that we would need to make custom metal brackets to mount the HID lights properly. The client appreciated that we wanted them to be mounted securely, as these lights were not for show, but for performance. We agreed on the technology upgrades and set up an appointment for the installation.
Rav4 Stereo Upgrade
A Kenwood DDX470 Touchscreen radio was installed in the dash. This Rav4 stereo upgrade was integrated with his factory steering wheel audio controls so it functioned like the original Toyota radio. This unit gave our client Bluetooth for streaming music wirelessly and hands-free calling capability. This unit also gives him future upgrade possibilities like a backup camera and SiriusXM radio which is always helpful. The front door speakers were upgraded with German Maestro CS6508 components in the stock locations.
We chose Hella HID fog lights for the front of the vehicle. As mentioned earlier, custom metal brackets were designed and manufactured by us to securely mount these lights in the vehicle.
All in all, this was a very straightforward job, but the outcome was wonderful. The client got a new in dash unit with more capabilities than the next generation Rav4 models. He gained sound quality beyond what Toyota can provide, and he achieved his goal of having HID fog lights properly integrated into the front of his vehicle. He was pleased with the work, and that is what we love to hear at WSS Westminster Speed & sound. Another job, another happy client.
