Serious stereo upgrade in a 2008 Mustang Bullitt

September 8, 2010 By staff

A customer came to us a couple weeks ago looking to upgrade the sound system in his 2008 Mustang Bullitt. He had a few requirements. He wanted to keep the stock Ford radio in the dash. He wanted it to sound a lot better. And he wanted it to jam. We have known this guy for over 15 years. We used to do stereo work for him when he was single. When he came in the door he said he was tired of the ” upgraded ” factory stereos that promised to be better but always left him wanting more. We talked about the systems we used to do in his cars. He said if he could keep it looking stock and make it sound great, he wanted it. We explained to him that was not a problem. So here is what we did;

We installed new German Maestro CC6808 5×7″ coaxial speakers in the original locations in the doors and rear deck. We installed a JL Audio Stealthbox in the right rear corner of the trunk for low end bass. As a side note, putting this enclosure in the passenger rear corner also helps the car with traction as it offsets the weight of the driver on the opposite side of the car. We then installed a JL Audio HD900/5 amplifier to power the front and rear speakers, along with the subwoofer. We put a bass level control knob under the dash to allow the customer the ability to control the amount of bass coming from the Stealthbox. We also installed Stinger Roadkill to eliminate vibrations caused by the new found bass. All of this equipment was integrated into the factory Ford radio. When we were done it looked like the Bullitt came this way from Ford. Below you will see some pictures and a testimonial from the customer himself.
