A local client recently contacted the Westminster Speed and Sound team to inquire about upgrading the stereo system in her 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser. She wasn’t impressed with the clarity, output capability, or bass response of the factory stereo. After auditioning several upgrade options in our showroom, we put together an audio upgrade package that would bring the big SUV’s stereo system to life. Let’s look at the work we performed.

Toyota Land Cruiser Speaker Upgrade
One of the most crucial parts of any audio system is the speakers. They are responsible for 95% of the system’s accuracy and detail. In this Land Cruiser, we created custom mounting brackets for new Helix and BLAM speakers in the doors and dash. We installed eight-inch Helix i5-series woofers along with matching i7-series 0.75-inch tweeters. For vocals, we used BLAM Signature wideband two-inch midrange drivers for the corners of the dash and an LFR52 2-inch midrange in the center channel location. The dash speaker mounting adapters were cut from acrylic using our CNC laser, and we used CNC router-cut expanded PVC adapters for the big woofers in the doors. We replaced the rear speakers with 6.5-inch Helix Compose Basic two-way coaxial speakers to wrap the sound around the listening space.
While our team had the doors apart, we installed Hushmat sound-deadening material on both the inner and outer metal door skins to reduce sound transfer into the vehicle. We added Silencer Megabond to the plastic door trim panels to reduce buzzes and rattles.
Custom Car Audio Amplifier Integration
The plan for the Land Cruiser was to use a Match UP10DSP 10-channel amplifier to power the speakers and recalibrate the system’s frequency response. We used a PAC AP4-TY14 preamp interface for the audio portion of the system. We integrated several analog channels to ensure navigation prompts and Bluetooth hands-free audio would also play properly. The connection between the PAC interface and the MATCH amplifier was established via a fiber-optic connection to ensure that the system remained noise-free.
The amp is mounted behind the cargo area trim panel on laser-cut expanded PVC plastic. The mounting plate utilizes factory fastener locations to maintain a tidy installation.
System Calibration Ensures Realistic Performance
With the sound deadening, new speakers and amplifier installed in the SUV, it was time for our technicians to configure the crossovers, signal delays and equalizers in the MATCH amplifier. We utilize a real-time audio analyzer to measure the acoustic output of each speaker, allowing us to adjust the amplifier’s digital signal processor to ensure the system sounds lifelike.
After three days working on this Toyota Land Cruiser’s stereo, we had everything looking and sounding amazing. The client had a listen to the truck upon her return to Westminster Speed and Sound, and she was absolutely in love with it.
