For decades, we’ve become accustomed to protecting the paint on our cars, trucks and SUVs with paint protection film. These urethane films act as impact absorbers, preventing chips and scratches from gravel and stones, as well as scuffs in parking lots. We recently completed testing and reliability verification on a similar product designed to protect your windshield. We want to introduce you to ClearPlex windshield protection film from the engineering minds at Madico.
What is Windshield Protection Film?
ClearPlex is an incredibly tough and durable Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) film. The transparent film is specifically designed as a UV-resistant, anti-scratch coating for vehicle windshields in automotive applications. The film is flexible enough to absorb impacts from small stones and gravel to help prevent windshield chips and cracks.

Why Should You Protect Your Windshield?
The front of our cars and trucks takes a beating when on the road. These surfaces are exposed to sand, gravel, rocks and other road debris that can cause damage from impacts. While the paint on a plastic bumper cover might simply chip from an impact, your brittle windshield might crack from a similar impact. Even small chips in a windshield can lead to the outer layer cracking, resulting in the glass needing to be replaced. With the cost of realigning lane-centering and adaptive cruise control systems, glass replacement can be expensive.
In a serious accident, ClearPlex works with the PVB plastic layer in the windshield to hold the broken glass together and prevent it from shattering into dangerous shards that could cause additional injury..
A side benefit of ClearPlex is that it blocks 99% of UV rays. As a result, your skin is protected from sunburn and long-term damage that can lead to wrinkles, blemishes, or, in extreme cases, skin cancer. Another benefit of the UV-blocking properties of ClearPlex is that the plastics and upholstery in your vehicle won’t fade or crack.
How does ClearPlex Protect My Vehicle?
ClearPlex is a 4-mil-thick film that we install in a similar fashion to paint protection film. First, we super-clean the window to remove debris and embedded road grime. The film is cut to match the contour of the window. It’s applied and shrunk to fit the unique shape of your vehicle’s windshield. We use a special squeegee to remove any slip agent used during installation so the adhesive can bond to the windshield.

Protect Your Vehicle with Madico ClearPlex Windshield Protection Film from WSS
A new windshield installation on a premium vehicle can cost thousands of dollars. Protecting your investment with windshield protection film from Westminster Speed and Sound not only helps maintain your vehicle’s resale value—it can also save you from significant repair expenses.
Modern vehicles often have Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) technologies like rain sensors, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition cameras, light sensors, and even infrared cameras on some high-end models. These components may require recalibration or replacement if the windshield is damaged.
Investing in windshield protection film can help you avoid those costly repairs and may also prevent a windshield replacement from being logged on a CarFax or AutoCheck report.
