A client from Williamsport recently contacted Westminster Speed and Sound to ask about upgrading his 2021 Can-Am Spyder stereo system. He’d seen the motorcycle audio work on our website and was confident the Spyder could benefit from the same attention to detail. After listening to the audio system on his three-wheeled motorcycle, we knew right away what it needed. With the owner’s approval, we put together a system design and scheduled an appointment to begin the upgrade.
Can-Am Speaker Upgrade
No audio system will sound great without quality speakers. The factory-installed audio system uses 4-inch drivers in the front along with a tweeter and a four-inch coaxial speaker in the back. Our fabrication team disassembled the front fairing, took measurements, and constructed new enclosures that would house 6.5-inch Cicada Audio CM652 midbass drivers. We added a set of Cicada Audio RR075T 3/4-inch titanium tweeters in the original locations up high in the dash. We repeated the process in the rear, where new enclosures on either side of the backrest house a set of Cicada Audio CXX5254 coaxial drivers.
DSP-Equipped Amplifier
After hearing how quickly the stock sound system ran out of power, we knew the upgrade needed something with a bit more punch. We installed a Match UP 6DSP amp in the bottom of the front storage compartment. This compact amplifier produces up to 65 watts of power for each tweeters and coaxial speakers, while the woofers can receive up to 90 watts of power each. Our team created a vinyl-wrapped trim panel to complete the amplifier installation.
The digital signal processor integrated into the amplifier is crucial for optimizing the new speakers. We set up our RTA microphone in the listening position and measured each speaker’s output. From there, we smoothed out any peaks or dips in the response to ensure every genre of music sounds clear and natural.

The new high-efficiency speakers, combined with the tuning capabilities of the DSP, made the new sound system rock. It plays crystal-clear audio and can drown out road and wind noise even at “passing speeds.” The client was thrilled with the sound and loved how everything looked.
