A repeat client came to Westminster Speed and Sound looking for a technology upgrade in his 2015 Ford F-150. One of our team members looked over the truck to see how it came equipped from the factory. That also gave us the opportunity to sit in it and listen as the client explained his goals for the upgrades. After giving him a demo of products in our sound room, we created a proposal that he liked, so we set a time to begin working on the truck.
We began by installing a Sony XAV-AX100 CarPlay and Android Auto unit in the dash. Now the client can safely harness the power of his smartphone and make phone calls, send text messages, and use the navigation and music on his phone. The vast majority of the functions are even done via voice control. Our technicians were able to keep his factory features working, including the USB port and steering wheel-mounted audio controls.
While the F-150 was in our bay, we performed a simple audio upgrade by installing a set of Hertz DSK165.3 speakers in the factory locations in the front doors and A-pillars. We also installed HushMat around the door woofer to help eliminate any vibration.
Once we finished the install, we performed a detailed checkout procedure to ensure the Ford was in proper working order. When the client arrived to pick up his truck, one of our staff sat in the vehicle with him and thoroughly went over the operation of his new stereo system.
