A client from Gettysburg recently contacted the motorcycle audio upgrade team here at Westminster Speed and Sound to inquire about an audio system upgrade. He wanted the stereo system on his 2024 Road Glide to play much louder than the factory-installed system. We let the client audition a set of speakers and a high-power amplifier from Cicada Audio, and he loved their performance. With the upgrade plan solidified, we scheduled an appointment to transform this cool cruiser into a concert on wheels.
Harley-Davidson Speaker and Amplifier Upgrade
The audio system upgrade on this Road Glide is complex and requires a precise process. The factory-installed amplifier communicates with the radio using a proprietary digital protocol called A2B. As such, we need to use a digital preamp interface to extract a full-bandwidth audio signal that we can feed to the new amplifier. The NAV-TV ZEN-H is designed to handle this task flawlessly.
The analog output of the ZEN-H is fed to a four-channel Cicada Audio DSP 600.4D DSP-equipped amplifier. We mounted the amp above the radio, replacing the original one. Using the on-board signal processor, we configured the amp as a two-channel unit that will deliver about 300 watts to each of the new speakers.
Cicada Audio CHX65.4 Pro Series horn speakers replace the stock units in the fairing. The new high-performance speakers bolt in place with no modifications to the bike.
2024 Road Glide System Calibration
The key to making this bike sound amazing for the client lies in our 15 years of experience working with digital signal processors. We set the crossover to protect the speakers from excessive cone excursion. Next, we positioned our calibration microphone in the riding position and adjusted the EQ to ensure every genre of music would sound amazing.

The client returned to Westminster Speed and Sound and hopped on the bike to hear the upgrade for the first time. He was thrilled with the sound and loved that everything looked exactly as though the bike had just rolled out of the showroom.
