A client from Hanover, Pennsylvania, contacted us about adding CarPlay and Android Auto to his 2016 Porsche Cayman. He had previously tried an inexpensive option with lousy results so he came to us for a better solution. After speaking with him and understanding his needs, we suggested a module from RDV Automotive Technologies that is very reliable and works well with the factory PCM3.1 stereo in the dash. We generated a proposal that he approved, so we set time to work on his vehicle.
Our technicians work on a lot of Caymans, so we were very familiar with the system in this car. The unit we chose gave the client wired and wireless CarPlay along with wired Android Auto. To access the wired functionality, we flushed a USB port into an existing power port spot in the center console. As you can see in the picture, it looks like a factory-installed option. The client gets to keep all the functionality of his existing stereo while gaining both of these great smartphone technologies.
After the install was finished, one of our staff sat in the vehicle with the client and went over the operation in detail. Needless to say, he loved the upgrade.
