A repeat client from Reisterstown came to Westminster Speed & Sound with his beautiful 2011 Ford Mustang GT500 – the Shelby. This time, he was looking to modernize the technology in the dash. At the top of his list were Apple CarPlay and GPS navigation. After looking over the car and exploring options, we worked up a proposal that he liked, so we set a time to begin working on the car.
If you are familiar with the 2011-2014 Mustangs, then you know that the climate control system is integrated into the factory radio, making it much more complicated to update. Fortunately, we have a solution that allows one of our new head units to control the climate control system on the touchscreen of the new radio. You can see it in one of the pictures.
We chose a model that would integrate seamlessly with his steering wheel-mounted audio controls and his Shaker premium sound system while retaining satellite radio. As you can see in the finished pictures, the new stereo system looks factory-installed.
When it was time to deliver the car back to the client, we went out to the Shelby and explained how to use everything. From the first moment CarPlay fired up on the new stereo, he was grinning from ear to ear.
