A client from Fairfield reached out to us about upgrading the technology in his new-to-him 2009 Porsche Cayman S. This may be one of the nicest ones we have ever seen, as it has well under 10,000 miles on it. After reviewing the vehicle together and discussing solutions, he selected one of our proposals, and time was scheduled for the installation.
We began the project by installing a Sony Mobile ES XAV-9000ES wireless CarPlay and Android Auto unit in the dash. A genuine Porsche radio escutcheon was used to create the appearance of a factory option. Our integration interface enabled seamless integration with the stock Bose amplifier system, while also accommodating future audio upgrades. We 3D printed a mount to allow the factory USB port in the center console to be repurposed for use with the new radio, enabling charging and/or connection as needed.
A rear backup camera as well as a front camera were also installed in the bumpers. Quick disconnects were used to facilitate easy servicing in the future.
Next up, the Cayman went to our film division for clear inside windshield film that will protect the interior and occupants from UV damage. The film also reduces heat and glare, making the drive more enjoyable. The final step was to apply ClearPlex exterior film protection to the front windshield. Since the stock glass was beautiful, adding this film was a logical step to protect it from stone and rock chips.
