Radar Detector, Tint and PPF Protection for New Windsor Audi A8 L

A repeat client from New Windsor contacted the team at Westminster Speed and Sound to inquire about upgrading his 2017 Audi A8 L with paint protection film, window tint and a radar detector with lidar defense technology. After inspecting the vehicle, one of our product specialists talked with the client about his expectations for the upgrades before we put together a proposal. As always, we explained the features and benefits of each solution to ensure that the client would be happy with the outcome.

Escort Radar Detector and Laser Defense

We started this project by installing an Escort MAX Ci 360 radar detection system. The Ci 360 includes dedicated front and rear radar receivers that provide long-range detection of X, K and Ka-band guns, as well as POP systems. Beyond the impressive radar sensitivity, this system excels is in its ability to ignore false alarms from technologies like adaptive cruise control. The Ci 360 also includes a GPS receiver that allows the client to mark the location of known false-alarms from door openers or stationary speed display signs.

We added four laser shifters to the front grille of the big Audi to protect the client against police lidar systems. The laser shifters prevent a lidar gun from obtaining a speed reading until the client cancels the signal transmission.

Premium Window Tint Adds Driving Comfort

The client wanted window tint that would complement the gorgeous black paint on his A8 L while helping keep the interior cool. After experiencing our interactive display, he chose 3M Crystalline in a 40% shade for the side and rear windows and 70% film for the front window. We use a computer-controlled plotter to cut our film, rather than risk scratching the glass or trim by cutting tint on the vehicle.

3M Paint Protection Package

The last step in this project was to install 3M Pro Series Paint Protection Film to help prevent paint chips and scratches from stones and gravel. The client travels down a dirt road to get to his home, so he wanted extra protection on the sides of the vehicle. We wrapped the front bumper, the hood, the front fenders, the headlights, the lower half of the doors, the rocker panels and the areas in front of and behind the rear wheels.

After several days of work, we had the radar system, window tint and paint protection film installed on this amazing A8 L. The client returned to Westminster Speed and Sound to inspect our work and was thrilled with the results.
