Porsche Cayenne Radar and Laser Protection for Baltimore Client

A client from Baltimore recently contacted the team at Westminster Speed and Sound to inquire about upgrading his 2018 Porsche Cayenne Turbo with a radar detector and laser defense system. After inspecting the vehicle and talking with the client about his expectations for the system, our product specialists quoted a solution based on the Escort MAX Ci 360. The client was impressed with our plan and gave us the go-ahead to schedule an appointment to complete the integration process.

Escort MAX Ci 360 Radar Detector

The rear radar receiver was mounted behind the bumper cover.

Our technicians bolted the front radar receiver to one of the front bumper substructures.

The wiring for the new electronics was neatly routed.

The MAX Ci 360 is a custom-installed detection and defense system that guards against X, K and Ka-band radar and police lidar systems. Our installation began with the radar receiver antennae. We can conceal these receiver modules because radar signals can pass through plastics with minimal signal degradation. The front antenna is located below and beside the left headlight and the rear unit is centered behind the rear bumper.

ShifterMax Laser Protection

A total of four laser shifters were installed in the front bumper.

The laser shifters were precisely aligned for maximum performance.

Unlike portable radar detectors that only warn you when your vehicle has been targeted by police, the MAX Ci 360 prevents lidar guns from taking a reading. We mounted a quartet of ShifterMax transceivers on the front of this Cayenne Turbo to provide excellent sensitivity and coverage. There are two transceivers in the center grille and one in each grille under the turn signals. Each sensor is aligned perfectly to provide long-range performance.

Radar Controller and Display Installation

The controller was conveniently mounted in the center console.

Closing the lid on the console pocket conceals the system controller.

The system display was mounted in the top corner of the windshield.

The next step was to route the wiring for the antennae and sensors through the vehicle to the control module under the dash. As always, all of the wiring is bundled and secured away from sources of heat or vibration. We mounted the display for the Escort system in the top left corner of the windshield. This location makes it easy to read without the need for the driver to turn his head or take his eyes too far off the road.

The controller for the system is mounted in the coin tray just ahead of the gear selector in the center console. Our fabrication team created a vinyl-wrapped trim panel to blend the controller into the panel. The client can access the buttons intuitively to cancel the laser shifter system or mark locations of false alarms or speed traps.
