A repeat client from Essex, Maryland, came to Westminster Speed & Sound with his beautiful 2012 Ford Mustang GT convertible. He liked the work we had done for him in the past, so we were his first choice when it came time to upgrade the technology in his new vehicle. Our team looked over the vehicle with him, listened as he explained his goals and then took him into our sound room to demo some equipment. Once we gathered all of our information, we suggested what we felt was the best solution for his needs, and he liked it, so we set an install appointment for him.
One of the main goals for the upgrade was getting in-dash navigation and smartphone integration for his iPhone. For this reason, we suggested the Pioneer AVIC-5100NEX unit. It combines Apple’s CarPlay software with a suite of additional controls, giving him complete control over his digital media library. We added a SiriusXM tuner so he could retain satellite radio, and we were able to reuse his factory antenna. Now the client can make phone calls; send and receive text messages; set reminders; and control Pandora, Spotify and other features almost exclusively with Siri voice control using CarPlay.
When the client came to pick up the vehicle, he loved all of the new features, along with our ability to keep his steering wheel-mounted audio controls. In normal WSS fashion, we sat in the vehicle with the client, showing him how to use the new equipment.
