We installed a Parrot Asteroid tablet in a 2005 Ford Excursion for a client from Woodbine, MD. This Parrot system was pretty cool! The main purpose behind installing this was to add Bluetooth for hands free phone calls and streaming music. It worked flawlessly, muting the factory stereo when making or receiving a call and playing through all the factory speakers. Not only did this kit provide Bluetooth but it also gave the client access to the Android Market. This allows him to download (when connected to wifi or his cell phone’s hotspot) an endless supply of apps including GPS navigation!
We mounted the 5″ touch screen display on the dash giving him easy access to all its features. We ran the USB and iPod/iPhone cables out the bottom of the dash so that our client could plug his devices in and set them in the cup holders. The kit also came with a wireless controller which we attached to the steering wheel. This system worked great and gave the client a TON of features! If you are interested in adding Bluetooth, iPod integration, or any other features to your existing radio the Parrot Asteroid may be just the thing you are looking for!
