A client from New Windsor came to Westminster Speed and Sound looking to upgrade his 2015 Chevy Silverado 3500 audio system. After we listened to the stock stereo system together, he decided that the first step was to get some great-sounding bass in the vehicle.
We suggested a JL Audio Stealthbox, which is a fiberglass enclosure that fits perfectly in the truck and holds a pair of JL Audio’s 12TW3 12″ subwoofers. A JL Audio HD750/1 amplifier powers the subs and a bass level control knob, conveniently located upfront, allows the driver to control the amount of bass added to the music.
While the truck was here, we applied HushMat damping material to the inner door skin to eliminate the rattling that was occurring in the door panels. It also reduces the road noise coming in from the front doors, making the interior quieter.
When the truck was finished, the audio system played with a lot more authority. The lowest octaves of music now come through in tight, articulate notes. Future upgrades call for a second amplifier and an upgraded set of front speakers.
