A client from Sykesville, Maryland, came to WSS Westminster Speed & Sound looking for collision-avoidance products for a 2011 Nissan Murano. We spent time getting to know the client and went out to the vehicle together, so we could understand their needs better. After spending significant time listening to the client explain where the vehicle was driven and how it was used, we determined that parking sensors were the best option. We suggested going with front and rear parking sensors for the ultimate in collision avoidance and aid when parking the vehicle. The client liked our proposal, so we set an installation time.
Our Advanced System Can Cover The Whole Vehicle With Only Four Sensors
As you can see from the pictures, WSS Westminster Speed & Sound installed two sensors into the front and rear bumpers of the vehicle. They are quite small – around the size of a quarter – and come in a matte black finish. If you are the kind of person who wants a completely factory look to the sensors, we offer in-house color matching as an option.
One of the unique things about our parking sensors is their capability to cover the whole vehicle properly with only two sensors. Most sensor companies need four sensors, but the brand we use holds the patent on parking sensor technology. Unless you have a full-size vehicle, you will be good to go with only two sensors, giving the vehicle a cleaner look.
Rear Sensors Offer Wide Range Of Protection
Our rear sensor kit will beep once when you put the vehicle into reverse to alert you that the sensors are active. When you are approximately six feet away from a person or object, the system will beep slowly. At approximately two to three feet away, it goes to a fast beep, and at around 18 inches away, it moves to a solid tone. The sensors are extremely simple in their operation but very effective in their use. They are just as effective at night or in the rain as they are on a bright, sunny day, which gives them an advantage over camera-based systems.
Murano Parking Sensors Include Purpose Built Front Sensors
We also use different products for the front sensors. Most shops simply install a second rear sensor kit on the front of the vehicle, but, to be blunt, they don’t work well in that location. You don’t want the system to start beeping at five to six feet away from the front of the vehicle when you’re parking. That would get very annoying. Our system has a smaller operating range on the front kit and begins to work at approximately two feet away, helping you pull up close without damage.
Interior And Passengers Protected From UV Rays With Dark Matter Window Film
While the Murano was in our care, we also installed our Dark Matter window film at a 50% darkness level. This is a unique window film in that it is almost clear, yet blocks close to 60% of the heat from the sun and 99% of harmful UV rays. The client now has a vehicle that is much cooler in the summer, and keeps the driver’s skin protected from damage by the sun.
