A client from Mount Airy came to Westminster Speed & Sound with his 1966 Ford Mustang, looking to have a modern stereo system installed in his vehicle. When our team went out to his vehicle, he showed us the center console he had installed in it. After consulting with our technicians, we came to the conclusion that a double din stereo could fit perfectly in that custom console.
At this point, we went over features and options that were important to the client. The most important request was that we “integrate my phone into my classic car.” For this reason, we suggested the Pioneer AVH-4200NEX unit since it comes with Apple CarPlay. He liked our idea, so we set a time for the install.
Our fabrication department made a custom mount to perfectly hold the new Pioneer unit in the console. We also flush-mounted a USB port.
When the client came to pick up his classic Mustang, he loved how perfectly his new stereo system was installed. When he plugs his iPhone into the USB port, he gets to experience CarPlay, he was in heaven. Now he has easy access to his phone, music, texting, reminders, navigation and Internet radio. You could say he has the best of both worlds: a classic Mustang to drive with modern music and technology at his fingertips.
