Mercedes-Benz CLA250 Paint Protection Film for Baltimore Client

A client from Baltimore recently visited Westminster Speed and Sound to inquire about a 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLA250 paint protection film solution. After talking to the client about how much she drives her car, we inspected the vehicle to determine the best solution to keep it looking new. We proposed a complete front-end protection package with a few additions to add upgraded protection. The client approved of our plan, so we scheduled an appointment.

We use a water and alcohol solution for positioning the film.

We started the project by washing the vehicle and preparing the front end of the car for the installation of 3M Scotchgard Pro Series 4.0 paint protection film. The paint surface needs to be spotless to ensure no air bubbles form under the film. We use our computer-controlled plotter to cut the film to the shape of the vehicle so that we don’t have to use knives near the fragile paint surface.

Once ready, we applied the film to the hood, front fenders and the front bumper cover. The film is installed using an alcohol and water solution that allows us to position the film perfectly before using a rubber squeegee to affix it into place.

Attention to Detail

The client opted to have the headlights of her car covered as well. The 3M film not only protects against physical damage from sand, gravel and small stones, and staining from bug splatter or bird droppings, but it includes UV-inhibiting properties that prevent the paint and headlight lenses from fading or yellowing prematurely. We also protected the paint behind the door handles with small pieces of film cut to the shape of the cups.

The last area to protect was the edges of the doors. We used narrow strips of the 3M protective film to help prevent scratches and chips from the door touching other vehicles or walls. In the unlikely event the doors do open and come into contact with another vehicle, the film helps to protect that other car or truck from scratches or chips.

Trunk Emblem Removal

The client asked if we could remove the large chrome CLA and 4Matic badges from the trunk lid. We were happy to take the badges off and clean up the adhesive to give the rear of the vehicle a cleaner look.
