A local client stopped by Westminster Speed and Sound with his 2019 Super Duty Ford F-350. He explained that he used it to tow with a fifth wheel and would like a camera so he could see the hitch in the bed. His particular truck came with the Ford 8″ touchscreen unit in the dash and a factory-installed backup camera in the tailgate. After looking over the truck and talking through ideas, we settled on adding a cargo camera to his factory system. Our team worked up a proposal that he liked so we set a time to begin work on his Super Duty.
We began by installing the cargo camera in a custom bezel directly below the third brake light in the center of the roof. As you can see in the finished picture, the camera looks like a factory-installed option. At this point, our technician moved to inside the truck and integrated the camera with the factory screen. We have a unique product that allows the Ford display to show either the factory tailgate camera or the new cargo camera. If the client wants to use the cargo camera, he simply toggles the switch we installed near the steering wheel and he can see the hitch in his bed clearly.
