A local client stopped in about upgrading the audio in his 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. The trucks are famous for their off-road prowess, but their stereo systems leave much to be desired. Fortunately, we have been upgrading Jeeps’s audio for over 3 decades now. After doing an audio consult, we suggested the MB Quart Jeep-specific upgrade package. He liked our idea, so a time we set to perform the
installation.
This package is specifically designed for the 2018 and newer “JL” series Wrangler models. A side note is that the 24 models are slightly different, but we also have solutions for them. This package allows for a large size increase in the front & rear speakers while dramatically improving their quality. Up front, the Jeep went from a 4″ midrange to a 6.5″ woofer and a 2.5″ full range driver to a 3.5″ coaxial speaker with dedicated tweeter. The same 4″ and 2.5″ factory speakers were present in the soundbar, and they were replaced with a 6×9″ coax with the integrated tweeter. In both instances, the finished product sat behind stock-looking grills.
Since any good audio system needs a subwoofer, this package includes a 12″ model inside a weatherproof composite enclosure that securely bolts into the swinging tailgate. All of these upgraded speakers need more power, so MB Quart supplies a trio of water-resistant
amplifiers. 200 watts of power goes to each of the 4 full-range speakers, and another 400 watts of power goes to the subwoofer. A perfectly fitted metal amp rack goes underneath the front seat, so zero storage space is lost.
