A repeat client from Finksburg came to Westminster Speed and Sound with his 2017 Chevy Suburban. He wanted us to install his Escort 9500ci custom-installed laser and radar detector that we had previously added to another vehicle for him. One of our team looked over the SUV with the client and gave him ideas for placement of key components. He liked our idea, so we set time to begin the work.
We began by installing the radar receiver in a hidden location behind the front grille. It still allows great sensitivity, but makes for a completely stealth install. When it came time to mount the front laser shifters, we designed a mount to hold them discreetly between the bars of the front grille. They were aimed straight ahead and parallel to the ground for optimum performance. In the rear of the truck, we mounted the laser shifter at the top of the license plate, centered on the rear of the Suburban.
Inside, we mounted the display at the base of the instrument cluster for easy viewing by the driver. We mounted the controller inside a closable trap door at the base of the center console.
When the client came to pick up his Chevy, he loved the detail of the installation.
