One of the most popular upgrades at WSS Westminster Speed and Sound are speakers. This is one area where car manufacturers try and save money. If you could see what we see on a daily basis removing factory speakers, you would not have to be a rocket scientist to understand why your stereo system sounds lifeless. Let’s take many of the 2012 and newer Toyota vehicles as an example.
Factory Toyota Audio Takes A Dive in 2012
Prior to 2012, many of their vehicles had an upgrade option for the JBL premium sound system. And while we were not a big fan of that sound system, it surely played louder and sounded better than their basic system. Well in 2012 Toyota had a problem. They recognized their need to upgrade the electronics in the dash to a modern touch screen system that would integrate well with many modern Smartphones. Unfortunately consumers, that stuff costs money. Lots of it. So Toyota started spending less money on the audio side of things, and only offers the JBL on their top packages. Where does this leave you? It leaves you with a great in dash touchscreen stereo that sounds pretty anemic.
3 Levels of Toyota Sound System Upgrades
The good news is that the Toyota audio systems respond well to even basic upgrades. We have done dozens of these vehicles with upgraded front speakers and seen dramatic sound quality improvements. Many of these upgrades also get damping material applied to the inner door skin to help eliminate any rattling and to lower the road noise in the vehicle.
We also offer level two upgrades which add a subwoofer in the vehicle for great low end impact that makes you feel like the concert is in your vehicle. We also install an amplifier for added output.
Our level three upgrades will then add a processor, which is a hidden, digital device that allows us to fine tune the audio system extensively for the acoustics of that specific vehicle. The improvement in audio quality with the level three systems rivals any home audio system on the market.
