A customer from Manchester, Maryland came to WSS Westminster Speed & Sound looking to modernize the electronics in their vehicle and to improve the cosmetics. They had recently bought a 2005 Ford Excursion, and explained that they had looked for awhile to find this vehicle. The whole family owned smart phones and wanted to integrate them with the stereo system, improve the sound quality, and add a backup camera. They had a rear seat entertainment system already installed and the truck had steering wheel controls for the audio functions, They did not want to lose either of those capabilities. We showed them what we felt was the best solution for their needs and an installation date was set.
Pioneer Touchscreen Is The Hub Of This Excursion Technology Upgrade
The whole system we installed wraps around a Pioneer AVH-X5600BHS in dash Touch Screen monitor. This unit gave them all their normal radio functions plus the added benefit of an HD Radio tuner. As you can see from the pictures we flush mounted a USB port into the dash so they can play their iPods, iPhones, flash drives with music, and so on. We gave them Bluetooth for hands free calling and music streaming. The Pioneer unit allows them to sync their contact list so they can search through it instead of handling their phone. We integrated the steering wheel controls with the Pioneer unit and got the audio output of the rear seat entertainment unit to play into the Pioneer unit so they could have sound throughout the truck when watching a movie. And of course, when you own the largest SUV on the road, you want a rearview camera, so we added one of those as well, installing it at the top of the license plate in the center of the vehicle. Hertz ECX570.5 speakers were installed in the front doors, and they dramatically improved the sound quality of the stereo system.
Window Tint Rounds Out the Upgrades
Last but not least, we installed our High Performance grade window film on the two front windows to complete the cosmetics of the outside of the vehicle, all the while keeping the driver and passenger cooler, and protecting them from the sun’s harmful UV rays. As they say, the proof is in the pudding. The customer was very pleased with the new improvements to their vehicle. And that was music to our ears.
