A client from Upperco, Maryland came to WSS Westminster Speed & Sound looking to make some performance upgrades to his new Ram 1500 truck. We love trucks so we knew this was going to be a fun project. We sat down with the client and did a consultation on his truck. We listened to his aspirations for his Ram, and we went out to the vehicle to eye it up visually. The client explained to us that he wanted to eliminate the back-end sitting higher than the front end, so we knew a leveling kit was a no brainer. He also asked about improving the fuel economy and power. After our consultation we worked up a few proposals that we thought we be the best solutions based on the client needs. We ordered the product and set up an appointment when it arrived.
Leveling Kit Gets This Ram Sitting Right
We chose a ReadyLift leveling kit for this vehicle. This kit raises the front of the vehicle by 2.5 inches while keeping the stock ride quality. We have been installing this brand for many years since the quality has always been top-notch. Now the vehicle sits level, giving it a much cleaner, tougher stance. It looked great!
Enhanced Fuel Economy Rounds Out Ram Performance Upgrade
Next up was improving the fuel economy and power. Bullydog recently released a new software for 2013 Ram’s with the Hemi 5.7 engine so we knew this was going to be our choice for a tuner. Bullydog is one of the leader’s in this category and we like the fact that the tuner comes with a display, The display can give the client some additional gauges they did not have before, plus a driving coach option that can help a person drive more efficiently, improving their fuel economy more than just the tuner alone. On Hemi engines we like to install throttle body spacers and air intakes from Airaid. We have had great success with them in the past. Airaid did not show an intake for this vehicle yet, so we called them to get the scoop. They told us they were in final testing of the intake for the 2013 model. We backordered one of these intakes for the client and can proudly say he had one of the first Airaid intakes installed in the country! The vehicle now had better throttle response and definitely felt more powerful than before.
Carr Aluminum Locking Gas Cap Completes The Project
When the client left our store after our consultation we gave him a catalog filled with goodies he could put on his Ram. He called us while he was waiting for his intake and said he liked the Carr aluminum locking fuel door covers. As you can see from the picture it made a nice addition to his truck, carrying on the heritage of past Mopar muscle into the 21st century. The client was excited with the new look and power of the vehicle, and while he was here we were already talking about the next stages of upgrades he wanted to do. We are thrilled at WSS Westminster Speed & Sound when a client leaves smiling.
