A client from here in Westminster recently brought his 2022 Harley-Davidson Road Glide to our shop in search of an audio and lighting upgrade. After talking with the client about how he likes to listen to his music, we suggested a Cicada Audio speaker and amp upgrade. For lighting, we knew Baja Designs would have something perfect for the bike. With a plan in place, we booked an appointment to begin upgrading this cool touring machine.
Cicada Speaker and Amp Upgrade
The first order of business was to remove the stock fairing speakers to make way for a set of Cicada Audio CM652 midbass drivers and RR075T titanium tweeters. The woofers bolt in place of the stock speakers, and the tweeters mount in new grilles supplied by Cicada.

For the rear speakers, we once again turned to Cicada Audio for a set of 6×9 woofers and a titanium tweeter kit. We used their HDPRO4K speaker installation grille kit. This kit allows us to modify the saddlebag lid to accept the speakers. In the old days, we’d have had to cut the lid and fiberglass in the new drivers, then have the lids painted. This solution is much more refined and looks fantastic. Importantly, we don’t need to worry about paint-matching the lids.
We installed a four-channel, DSP-equipped Cicada Audio DSP600.4D amplifier under the front fairing using a mounting bracket designed specifically for this generation of Harley-Davidson Road Glide. The amp delivers 150 watts to each of the four speakers, for a total of 600 watts of clean power.
Once everything was installed, we flashed the Harley-Davidson radio to eliminate the awful factory equalization curve. Next, we used our RTA microphone and the amplifier’s digital equalizer to equalize the audio from each speaker. The result is a smooth, natural response with a solid midbass kick.
Harley-Davidson Road Glide Lighting
The client wanted new forward lighting for his Road Glide. After a bit of research, we suggested a pair of Baja Designs LP6 headlights as the perfect solution. These lights feature a combination of driving beam patterns for everyday use and a spot pattern for when maximum distance is required. The client chose amber lights to be a bit unique and match the orange/copper accents on the bike.

Baltimore’s Harley-Davidson Upgrade Experts
With the speakers, amp and new lights installed and adjusted, the client returned to Westminster Speed and Sound to check out his bike. He loved the way the stereo sounded and was amazed by how loudly it played. The lights looked just the way he wanted, and he was thrilled with their output capability.
If the stereo or lighting on your Harley-Davidson Road Glide isn’t meeting your expectations, drop by our shop or email our team, and we can design a bespoke upgrade for your needs.
