A client from Spring Grove brought their 2023 Ford Bronco Wildtrak to Westminster Speed and Sound for a stereo system upgrade. Like many other Bronco owners, they were disappointed with the quality of the factory stereo, particularly its ability to reproduce bass frequencies. After discussing the client’s music preferences, a team member designed an upgrade that checked all the boxes, delivering superb sound quality and performance.
Ford Bronco Speaker Upgrade
We began the Bronco stereo system upgrade by removing the stock speakers from the dash and kick panels. We installed a set of Helix Ci3 C100.2FM-S3 four-inch coaxial speakers in the dash. For midbass, we added a pair of Ci3 W165.FM-S2 6.5-inch speakers in the kick panels. In the D-pillar pods, we replaced the factory speakers with another set of Helix Ci3 C100.2FM-S3 four-inch coaxial drivers.
Subwoofer Upgrade
Adding a subwoofer was essential to achieving the sound the client desired. We chose AudioControl’s TXFBB12 swing-gate-mounted 12-inch Bronco-specific subwoofer enclosure. This subwoofer system bolts into place and eliminates the need for expensive fabrication or modifications to the Bronco.
Compact Power Amplification
To power the upgraded audio system, the client agreed to use a pair of Helix Match series amplifiers. After removing the stock amplifier panel behind the passenger-side trim in the trunk, our team fabricated a new panel to secure the UP6DSP and UP1FX amplifiers.
The UP6DSP is an ultra-compact six-channel amplifier capable of producing up to 65 watts per channel. It also features a built-in digital signal processor, which we used to configure crossovers, delays, and equalization for each speaker in the system.
The UP1FX amplifier is a compact monoblock designed to drive the AudioControl subwoofer with the perfect amount of power.
Our team also created a custom mounting panel for the system’s fuse holders, made from laser-engraved acrylic. The panel features Bronco and Wildtrak logos, as well as labels for each amplifier’s protection fuses.

After two days of work, the client returned to Westminster Speed and Sound to pick up their vehicle. They were thrilled with the improved sound quality and loved that all the components were hidden.
