A client from Baltimore contacted Westminster Speed and Sound about an upgraded 2015 Porsche Cayman GTS radio and backup camera. One of our team members spent time getting to know him better and understanding his needs. As the relationship developed, a few things became clear: He wanted CarPlay and a backup camera, with factory-looking installation work. Fortunately, Porsche vehicles are near and dear to our heart, so we were honored to have the opportunity to work on this Cayman. At the end of our discussion, we presented a proposal to him that he approved, so time was set to begin the work.

One of the favorite brands we sell at Westminster Speed and Sound is Sony. Its products are very easy to use, and the cosmetics blend in well with the Cayman interior. The XAV-AX100 includes Apple CarPlay along with Google’s Android Auto, giving the driver a safe way to harness the power of the smartphone while driving. Now, many popular functions such as phone calls, texting, music, navigation and reminders get done almost exclusively via voice control. As you can see in the final pictures, the finished product looks as though it came installed that way from the factory.
Backup Camera Eliminates Blind Spot
If you have ever driven a Cayman, then you know it has a big blind spot when backing up. Fortunately, we have a solution for it. Our camera system mounts on the lip above the rear license plate in a factory design. The clarity and nighttime visibility are factory grade as well. When it came time to run the wiring, our team designed a securely loomed, quick-release harness and secured it near the factory plugs, making it easy to remove the rear bumper for service.
Reference Standard Installation Quality
Just as important as the product itself is the quality of the installation. Our team uses reference standard methods that meet or exceed those of a vehicle manufacturer. All connections are soldered with protective heat shrink applied. Even the tape we use is made by the same company Porsche specs for its own harnesses. In short, everything we do is designed to give you years of reliable service while improving your driving enjoyment.
