A client from Millersville recently contacted the team here at Westminster Speed and Sound to upgrade the audio system in his 2023 Porsche Boxster S. He wasn’t thrilled with the factory-installed system’s output capability and didn’t think it sounded all that great. After auditioning the stereo system in our demo vehicle, he knew that was the performance he wanted. We provided a detailed quote, then, with his approval, scheduled an appointment to perform the work.
Porsche Boxster Stereo System Upgrade
We started the project by removing the factory-installed speakers from the doors and dash, as well as the amplifier from under the passenger seat. Our team installed Hushmat sound-deadening on the inner and outer door skins to dampen resonances. We installed SoundShield deadening on the door panel. SoundShield has a layer of foam that helps prevent wires and cables from buzzing and rattling. This would be critical, given the planned woofer upgrade.
Once the doors were prepped, we installed a set of Helix i7-Series 4-inch midrange drivers in the stock location using 4-inch Flexmount brackets. Next, we installed a set of Helix i5-Series eight-inch woofers using another set of Flexmount brackets. Lastly, a set of 0.75-inch Helix Compose i7 tweeters was mounted in the dash using adapters.
Helix DSP Amplifier Installation
The client wanted the system to deliver the same amazing soundstage as our demo car. As such, we suggested the Helix V EIGHT DSP Ultimate amplifier would be the perfect solution. We mounted the amp under the passenger seat, where the original amp was located.
The amp can deliver up to 110 watts per channel, ensuring each speaker gets everything it needs to sound amazing. Further, the amp has an elaborate digital signal processor that we used to set crossovers, signal delays, and equalization, which are fundamental to the realistic soundstage we aimed for.

Once the system was configured and calibrated, it was time for the client to return to Westminster Speed and Sound to pick up the vehicle. A member of our team joined him for the first audition, and the smile on his face told us everything we needed to know. The bass from the new woofers was amazing. The clarity and imaging were just what he wanted. He loved that everything looked original.
