A client from Owings Mills recently brought his 2020 Harley-Davidson Road Glide to Westminster Speed and Sound for an amplifier and speaker upgrade. As is typical of Harley touring bike owners, he wanted the audio system to play louder and sound clearer. He let us know that he’d already purchased a set of new saddlebag speaker lids that included provisions for 6×9 speakers. After auditioning a few upgrade options, the client chose an amp and speaker from ARC Audio to make his motorcycle audio system sound amazing.
ARC Audio Harley Davidson Audio Upgrade
We started the upgrade project with the ARC Audio Motorcycle Performance Audio Kit (MPAK) 12. This upgrade system includes a Moto 720 four-channel amplifier, a pair of Moto 602v2 6.5-inch coaxial speakers for the front fairing and all the wiring and mounting accessories we’d need to complete the installation. Our technicians removed the front fairing cover to begin running the eight-AWG power wire that comes with the kit to the battery. Next, they attached the amplifier mounting bracket to the fairing supports just above the radio. The Moto 720 amplifier is designed specifically to fit in this location and can provide an amazing 150 watts of power to each speaker on the bike.
Next, we installed the Moto 602v2 speakers in the front fairing and added a set of Moto 692 to the lids on the saddlebags. Both sets of speakers are designed specifically to handle the environmental challenges associated with motorcycles. They are water-resistant and can handle prolonged UV exposure. They can also handle the vibrations associated with a big-engine Harley.
Motorcycle Radio Flashing Improves Performance
The last step was for our team to reflash the radio using our TechnoResearch flashing computer. The stock radio has a strange equalization curve with a big boost in the midbass. While this works adequately with the stock speakers and limited power of the OE radio, it sounds terrible with good speakers and a high-power amp like the Moto 720. Our flashing computer allows us to change the tune on the radio so that the ARC Audio speakers will sound amazing.

After a full day’s worth of work, we had the new ARC Audio amp and speakers integrated into this gorgeous Harley-Davidson Road Glide and the system tuned to sound amazing.
