A client from Taneytown contacted the Westminster Speed and Sound team about upgrading his 2022 Honda Accord with a subwoofer. After a conversation with the client, we invited him to audition our demo vehicle. He loved the way the DSP amp and active speaker configuration sounded and asked us to design a similar system in his car. We put together a few system designs and let the client pick a solution that worked with his budget. Let’s check out the work we performed.

Custom Subwoofer System
The heart of the upgrade in this Honda Accord is the subwoofer system. The client chose a pair of 12-inch KICKER CompR subwoofers for the vehicle. Our fabrication team measured the available space in the trunk and then constructed an enclosure that maximizes storage while delivering excellent bass output. Once the enclosure was complete, we created a grille with a mesh opening to make the subwoofers visible when the trunk was open. We added LED lighting around the subs for a little extra flair.
A Wavtech Link1000.1mini amplifier powers the subwoofers. Though the amp is compact, it easily delivers 500 watts of power to each subwoofer. We added a LinkRC remote control to the amp, allowing the client to adjust the bass level up or down to suit their mood or the music playing.
Honda Accord Speaker Upgrade
We removed the stock speakers from the doors and rear parcel shelf of the Accord to make way for upgraded solutions from BLAM and Infinity. We treated the doors with Soundshield sound-deadening and Contour foam rings to prevent buzzing and rattling.
For the front stage, we used a set of BLAM SR165S 6.5-inch component speakers. The rear deck is now home to a set of Infinity REF607FSL coaxial speakers. We ran dedicated speaker wiring to the woofers and tweeters, allowing us to optimize the system with the DSP.

For power, we used a Match UP6DSP amplifier. This amp powers the tweeters, front woofers and rear coaxial speakers. It also has an output that we fed to the Wavtech amplifier. Each of the seven outputs is fully adjustable for crossovers, signal delays and equalization thanks to the processor.
We used our real-time audio analyzer to ensure the output of each speaker would deliver a smooth and natural sound at the driver’s seat. The result is as if the owner were sitting at the console of a recording studio. The music plays from in front of him and is evenly dispersed across the dashboard, sounding amazingly realistic.
Baltimore’s Best Car Audio Upgrades
It took us a couple of days to build the enclosure and trim, install all the gear, and configure and calibrate the system. To say the client was thrilled would be an understatement. If the stereo in your car or truck doesn’t put a smile on your face, drop by Westminster Speed and Sound. A member of our team would be happy to design an upgrade that will truly impress you.
