A client from Sparks contacted the Westminster Speed and Sound team to inquire about upgrading the speakers and amplifier in her 2021 Ford Bronco. She desired a system that would deliver much clearer audio and play at louder volumes. Additionally, she wanted more bass to enjoy her music truly. Given our extensive experience with Bronco upgrades, we knew exactly what would work best. After discussing her performance goals and budget, we devised a plan and scheduled an appointment for the installation.
Ford Bronco Speaker and Subwoofer Upgrade
The first task was to replace the front speakers with a set of Helix i3 woofers and tweeters. The woofers fit perfectly into the kick-panel speaker location. To ensure a proper fit, our team cut a set of mounting adapters, allowing the new tweeters to bolt seamlessly into the dash. For the rear speakers, we installed a set of BLAM 100RC four-inch coaxial drivers, which dropped right into the stock locations in the D-pillars.
One of the best upgrades to any car audio system is adding a subwoofer. The client selected a Stinger TXFBB12 enclosure, which includes a 12-inch subwoofer. We securely bolted it directly to the tailgate.
Helix M-Series Amplifiers Boost Power
To power the system, we installed a Helix M6DSP amplifier along with an M One amp dedicated to the subwoofer. The six-channel amp features a digital signal processor, which allowed our team to accurately set crossover points and signal delays. After completing the installation and reassembly, we used our sound measurement microphone to adjust the equalizer for each channel. The result of these meticulous adjustments is an audio system that sounds incredibly realistic, plays clearly, and handles higher volume levels with ease.
We mounted the amplifiers on a custom-cut ABS plastic panel, which bolts to the vehicle using factory-provided fastener locations. To ensure optimal performance, we ran a pair of 4-AWG power wires directly to the battery, providing each amp with the necessary current to deliver outstanding sound. The wiring was neatly arranged, ensuring reliability and a clean installation. Best of all, every component, aside from the tailgate-mounted subwoofer, remains completely invisible.
